Grief Bodywork

A place for the body to be held in what the heart is carrying.

Grief does not live only in our thoughts.

It can show up in the body—in a tight chest, clenched jaw, shallow breath, exhaustion, restlessness, heaviness, numbness, or the feeling that you simply cannot settle.

Somatic Bodywork for Grief is a gentle, grief-informed practice that creates space for what your body may be carrying through loss, transition, caregiving, anticipatory grief, or profound change.

Rather than asking you to explain everything you are feeling, this work invites you to slow down and notice what is happening inside the body.

Through compassionate presence, grounding, breath, gentle movement, and supportive therapeutic touch, we work with the nervous system to create a greater sense of safety, connection, and spaciousness.

There is nothing you need to accomplish here.

You do not need to “move on,” find closure, or make meaning out of your loss. You do not even need to have words for what you are experiencing.

Sometimes the body simply needs somewhere safe enough to soften.

Releasing this tension is essential for achieving overall well-being, healing and grief processing.

What a session may include

Each session is individualized and guided by your comfort, needs, and consent. Depending on what feels supportive, our time together may include:

  • Gentle, intentional therapeutic touch

  • Nervous-system regulation and grounding

  • Breath and body awareness

  • Somatic noticing and guided sensing

  • Gentle movement or stretching

  • Stillness and rest

  • Space for emotion, conversation, or silence

  • Support around grief, caregiving, death, loss, and major life transitions

  • You remain in choice throughout the entire session. We can adjust, pause, or stop any practice or touch at any time.

Who is this for?

Somatic Bodywork for Grief may be supportive if you are experiencing the death of someone you love, anticipatory grief, caregiving exhaustion, a significant life transition, relationship loss, accumulated grief, or simply a season in which your body feels overwhelmed by everything it has been carrying.

You don’t have to wait until you are falling apart to receive care.

And you don’t have to know exactly what you need when you arrive.

You can simply come as you are.

Grief is physical, too.

We often try to care for grief through words—talking about it, understanding it, making sense of it.

Those things matter.

But sometimes there comes a point when there are no more words.

The body is still holding the story.

This work offers another way of listening.
